This proves that I am officially a nerd: One of the highlights of my week so far came when I was registering for my first classes at Southern Seminary.  As I glanced through the course catalogue, I noticed a class entitled "Greek Exegesis: Romans" taught by Thomas Schreiner.  Oh, the flutter of my heart, especially when I observed that the class fit into my schedule!  Immediately, I reached for the "Add" button on my computer screen so I could add to my joy this upcoming fall.  But, this mountaintop experience quickly descended into the valley of despair when I saw not only that the class was already filled, but also that there were 28 people in front of me on the waiting list!  Apparently, there are some other nerds at Southern like myself.

Oh, the virtue of patience!  How little I possess, and God teaches me to cultivate in the small as well as the large things.

Well, I decided it's time for my annual blog.

Amelia and I have been married for almost a year now!  As the old adage goes, "time sure flies."  But that's a good thing, right, because how bad would it be to say, "This has been the longest year of my life"!  Today we are beginning our first anniversary celebration, which actually will be Sunday, June 4...But Amelia and I definitely believe in longer celebrations that simply one day!  God has been good to us; were it not for His powerful grace, we could never have enjoyed any of the past year.

Also, congratulations to Andrew Robertson and Sara Smith!  I get the privilege of singing with Eric Sexton at their wedding one of their (and my) favorite songs--"Be Thou My Vision."  We all knew there was only one girl in the world for Andrew, and Sara certainly fits the bill.  Congrats!

One final note: Pray for Amelia and me as we prepare to move to Louisville, KY this summer.  Our planned moving day is July 10.  Seminary should be great!

Since Joshua never updates, and I am on the computer now, I will update for him!  (this is Amelia). 

Joshua is well and working hard.  He is at Craker Barrel right now waiting tables.  He works there on Mondays and Tuesdays, so if any of you are in the Shawnee area and are famished on those two days, Joshua just might be your server.  (Give him a big tip if you do go eat there!)

He also works hard during the week preparing sermons.  He has been preaching in Romans 3 on Sunday nights.  It has been a series of gospel messages and has been quite truth filled.  Two weeks ago, on Sunday mornings he just started preaching out of Revelation.  He is taking each Sunday to preach on a letter to one of the seven churches.  These sermons have been good too.

He is in the process of applying to Southern Seminary, where he will Lord willing start in the fall. 

That's about all I've got for ya now.  I have to go learn about cardiac dysrhythmias now.

So, this week has been fun!  First, I got to preach God's holy Word on Sunday.  There is no day like Sunday, one day a week during which God has allowed us as a church to meet together for worship and fellowship.  The people at Pleasant Home are so forgiving when I fail, and (it seems at least like) they are strengthened by the preaching and teaching of the Word.  I feel like singing the Doxology right now!

Not only was Sunday outstanding, but also Amelia and I had Dr. Bill Mullins and his wonderful wife Edith over for supper on Monday.  They remind me of the truth that God sends certain people to you in order to show you how to live.  I don't recall a more humble yet brilliant couple than the Mullins.  Oh, and besides that, they wanted to see our wedding pictures (so Amelia was really happy!), and they wanted to see my Greece pictures (so I was just ecstatic!).

Finally, and this is not that fun, but still worth mentioning...I went to OBU's convocational service today in chapel.  It was really quite good, as Dr. Brister spoke on the centrality of Scripture in our quest for truth via education and religion.  It was the first in a series of messages on the stained glass windows adorning Raley Chapel.  Today's was on the OBU seal.  Also, for those of you questioning my sanity for attending an OBU chapel as a graduate, today was also the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the opening of the Global Outreach Center, which gave me reason to go support the new GO coordinator and good friend, Matt W.  As many problems as OBU has had in the last year or two, the opening of this center is very refreshing, since it points to more than just Bison Hill; indeed, it charges students to practice what they preach.  Amen for more Christians who are able to do such things!
